Dos Virtualbox Image

We provide pre-built images for several open-source operating systems.

Here is a zip folder containing the disk images to create a set of MS-DOS 6.22 installation disks. This is a copy of 'Microsoft MS-DOS 6.22 Plus Enhanced Tools'. See the installation page on how to create the disks. (Note: All Software on this site are in zip folders - RAR files. Download WinRAR on the next page, and install it on your main PC.

Please note that:

If you get a scrolling list of 'Invalid Opcode' errors when you boot the FreeDOS 1.2 installation CD-ROM on VirtualBox, this is a bug in VirtualBox since we released FreeDOS 1.2. To fix: When you boot the FreeDOS install CD-ROM, at the first 'Welcome to FreeDOS 1.2' boot screen, press the Tab key to edit the boot options. VirtualBox Images We offer open-source (Linux/Unix) virtual machines (VDIs) for VirtualBox, we install and make them ready-to-use VirtualBox images for you. From here you can download and attach the VDI image to your VirtualBox and use it. We offer images for both architectures 32bit and 64bit, you can download for free for both architectures. This project provides virtual machines for Oracle VM VirtualBox® for several free and/or open-source operating systems, such as GNU/Linux or Free/Net/OpenBSD for testing, security and/or entertainment purposes. In most cases, we’ve done a minimal setup, to let you alter the images to your own needs and learn how to use the operating systems.

  1. Every image contains the latest software as of the day the image was built. Performing updates is on your own, and may require looking for documentation to read using your favourite search engine.
  2. Default usernames and passwords, where required, can be found next to the download link of each image. You are warmly invited to create your own user, or at least to change passwords, if you intend to use the images in a public environment.
