Sims 2 Neighborhood

Knutley is my second attempt at a custom Sims 2 neighborhood. My first attempt was Edgewood. It will always have a special place in my heart, but I made many mistakes and wanted to start fresh with all the knowledge from that attempt. First look at Feverfew Custom Neighborhood in The Sims 2 by Criquette Nimi (NH decorator) reacts. Scrolling around in Feverfew, a custom pre-decorated neighborhood for The Sims 2, made by the master of neighborhood decorating: Criquette!

You can download Wakefield HERE. (vN021) /mirrors: HERE, HERE (vN007)/

As of now, one of the lots (if not all of them) in Wakefield contain the DEBUG- Super Duper Hug interaction, so if you download it, that will show up in your game as well. I’m trying to figure something out to get these removed. keep this in mind before downloading

Requirements:

I built this ingame, so Wakefield requires ALL EP & SPs or Ultimate Collection.

Required mods:

Wakefield Custom Script, which you need for the custom scripted events to show up in 4 out of the 6 families can be found HERE. OR v1.1 HERE. They are basically small pop up texts like you know them from playing the Pleasantview premade families, however they do not include scripted outcomes of events like Mary-Sue getting fired from her job.

No regen mods. Wakefield comes without Goopy & Gang, it includes a few townies made by me, so there are a bit more chances for romance options. The neighborhood includes stray animals. If you want to keep it that way I would highly recommend getting notownieregen, antiredundancy, and nostrayrespawn.

IMPORTANT: As there is a Cemetery lot, there are gravestones. I had someone tell me they don’t show up in their game, so please please download THIS mod which helps you to save the neighborhood from corruption.

If you don’t need the Custom Scripting anymore remove that from the downloads folder and run Mootilda’s HoodChecker and that should solve the issue.

OR you can use THIS mod to place new gravestones and assign the ghosts to them in your game. Sorry guys I know this is an inconvenience but I don’t know of any other solution for this.

Installation guide:

Once you downloaded the Neighborhood, you need to extract it into your Documents / The Sims 2 (Ultimate Collection) / Neighborhoods folder. Wakefield is numbered N007 so it shouldn’t cause an issue, but if you already have 7 neighborhoods, let me know and I can renumber it for you.

After you did this you need to download the Custom Script and copy it into your Documents / The Sims 2 (Ultimate Collection) / Downloads folder. Make sure you do this BEFORE first starting up the neighborhood! (The script makes the pop ups show up when you first start the game, so after you played the first rotation with each family, you can remove it if you want)

Sims 2 neighborhood mods

The same applies to the no regen mods if you decide to get them, which I highly recommend :)

Wakefield description:

Wakefield is a small town, which was established almost a 100 years ago. Since then, the population sunk - lot of the residents moved to big cities. But the people who still occupy this lovely town are exciting enough to keep the town full of life.

Families (in recommended play order):

Burns - Rosemary and Cathy Burns live on their own after the recent passing of Rose’s loving husband - Adam, who died in a workplace accident. While she tries to support Cathy so she can overcome the hardships of life, she can’t shake off the feeling, that something isn’t as it seems.

Larson - Roy was never the worrying type of guy. Will Wakefield give him the excitement that he needs?

Morales - As the son of the former Mayor of Wakefield, and in general being a nice and caring person, Zac earned quite the reputation in the small town. Now he lives a peaceful life with his dog, Bean. But what next?

Underwood (Kimbra) - After her father’s death, Kimbra decided to leave the old family home where she couldn’t find the acceptance she needed. Now she has to shape her own life - how will she do it?

Perkins - Brad Perkins was always a hard worker. He defined a goal, and worked until he earned it. That determination is what made it possible to steal Sara’s heart. Sara was always the center of attention - how will she deal with her new life in the small town of Wakefield?

Underwood - Kirk was always bit of a weirdo - life wasn’t treating him well most of the times. But he found Brooke and now has a happy family. Brooke always loved that in him - she thought he is a caring and although a little goofy, nice guy. They are living happily with their three kids now - but is that enough for Kirk?

Community Lots:

Hillwood Community Park

Ol’ McPlum Restaurant

Plum Pet Shop

Wakefield Community Pool

Mini Market

Book Shop

Wakefield Cemetery

Wedding Venue

Update: Oct/Nov 2011 Maple Valley has been fixed according to Mootilda's HoodChecker program.
For your own benefit you are advised to back up your game before adding this neighborhood.
Main installation instructions
Maple Valley requires the base TS2 game and the University Expansion Pack installed on your computer in order to play.
When you click to download, you will get a Rar file. You will have to unpack that using WinRar or Extract Now, it will then open up and give you a folder called New_Maple Valley. Inside of that folder you will find the MV02 folder, as well as the following installation instructions, along with some other information.
I have used Mootilda's Lot Compressor to make the filesize for this neighborhood much smaller, this will not affect you as the player! More information can be found by clicking the named link to the right.

  1. To install Maple Valley, place the MV02 folder in your My DocumentsEA GamesThe Sims 2Neighborhoods folder.
  2. Start up your game, Maple Valley should now appear in the neighborhood selection menu along with the usual EA/Maxis 'hoods and/or your other custom neighborhoods.
Usually custom neighborhoods will appear at the end of your menu screen, and after the EA/Maxis neighborhoods, where this one tends to show up earlier, between the newer EP 'hoods (Belladonna, Desiderata, Riverblossom) and Pleasantview.
Maple Valley contains no CC. A copy of the neighborhood has been tested to make sure all edits appear as planned, and to check on and play out certain circumstances that I thought needed looking at. There are a couple of small issues, details of those are included in the Rar, along with the MV02 folder.

NeighborhoodOther Information
SimsMaple Valley has been made in a newly created clean game, using empty templates from MATY and Numenor's AnyGameStarter in an empty base game/University set up.
Maple Valley now has a custom folder name/number, MV02.
To edit the sims, skills, jobs and their job levels, I used The Sim Manipulator, and to edit everything else, I used SimPE.
I've used Pescado's noregen hacks, and others I felt I needed from his 'Director's Cut' to halt annoying behaviour for the times I needed to unpause the game.
For sims looking as if they should have career rewards, and for items on the new community lots, I used Sophie-David's buyable Aspiration & Career Rewards (all links can be found in the links list to the right).
All Maple Valley sims, families and townies were cloned using the original EA/Maxis face templates, for any new townie sims or NPC's I've used Spookymuffin's Face Templates.
My main reason for remaking Maple Valley
In the original version there were quite a few broken character files, there were also some duplicate characters. Eventually these things would have led to differing levels of neighborhood corruption for anyone playing Maple Valley...or as MATY would call it, BFBVFS.
Mootilda at MTS has made a list of playable neighborhoods, which can be found on her Journal, seeing Maple Valley on that list, and having recently finished updating all of my other neighborhoods with Mootilda's help, I felt fixing it was something that I could do, and so should!
As part of the original group of contributors to this neighborhood, I know the background, I know most of the intended twists and turns in the storylines, and it was important to me to get this right! I have no idea whether anyone out there wants this, but if you do and you are reading this, I hope you will enjoy playing Maple Valley!
Thanks
The main thanks must go to Zythe for the idea of making this neighborhood and for putting it all together in the first place. To the TSR forum members of 2005, for their enthusiasm and encouragement during and after the project, especially JRon who contributed add-on lots, and to TSR Moderators AudreyMay for all of her help, and Moza who went on to host Maple Valley for a very long time.
In the order they joined the project, the creators of Maple Valley were: Zythe, MeLfaith, babajayne, HazyFlowers, miss_rachel, Mistwind, Kail210 and cpowell8203.
I am lechapeau.
