Vmware Horizon Client 3.5 2

If you upgrade to Horizon Client 3.5.x from a previous Horizon Client version, TLSv1.2 is enabled by default after you first launch Horizon Client 3.5.x. If you did not modify the default cipher control string, Horizon Client 3.5.x updates the string to the new value after you first launch Horizon Client 3.5.x. OpenSSL 1.0.2d support. The Horizon Client 3.5.2 release contains bug fixes for Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11). Resolved in Horizon Client 3.5 On Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 desktops, if you removed a drive from being shared on the desktop, Windows Explorer continued to display the removed drive in the guest operating system.

Vmware Horizon Client 3.5 2 For 32 Bit Windows

Horizon View Client for Windows 2.3.3 | 18 April 2014

Last Updated: 2.3.3 | 18 April 2014

These release notes cover the following topics:

Key Features

VMware Horizon View Client for Windows makes it easy to access your Windows virtual desktop with the best possible user experience on the Local Area Network (LAN) or across a Wide Area Network (WAN).

  • Support for Windows 8 and 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP systems.
  • Unmatched performance - The adaptive capabilities of the PCoIP display protocol are optimized to deliver the best user experience, even over low-bandwidth and high-latency connections. Your desktop is fast and responsive regardless of where you are.
  • Simple connectivity - Horizon View Client for Windows is tightly integrated with VMware Horizon View for simple setup and connectivity.
  • Secure from any location - At your desk or away from the office, your data is delivered securely to you wherever you are. SSL/TLS encryption is always used to protect user credentials, and enhanced certificate checking is performed on the client. View Client for Windows also supports optional RADIUS and RSA SecurID authentication. (RADIUS support was added with VMware View 5.1 and View Client for Windows 5.1.)

What's New in This Release

The 2.3.3 release of VMware Horizon View Client for Windows updates the 2.3.0 release to resolve security issues found in the OpenSSL 1.0.1 library. The OpenSSL library is updated to version openssl-1.0.1g to resolve multiple security issues. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures project (cve.mitre.org) has assigned the names CVE-2014-0076 and CVE-2014-0160 to these issues. CVE-2014-0160 is known as the Heartbleed issue. For more information, see KB 2076796: VMware Horizon View and the Heartbleed Bug.

Other than providing the new version of the OpenSSL library, this release is exactly the same as the 2.3.0 release.

The 2.3.x releases of Horizon View Client for Widnows include the following new features:

  • New group policy security setting for configuring client systems to use a specific cipher list -- Included in the Horizon View ADM template file is a policy setting that lets you configure the cipher list to restrict the use of certain cryptographic algorithms and protocols before establishing an encrypted SSL connection. You can alternatively use the SSLCipherList registry setting on client systems. By default SSL v3.0, TLS v1.0, and TLS v1.1 are enabled. (SSL v2.0 and TLS v1.2 are disabled.)
  • Log file enhancements -- The client version and build numbers now appear in first line of the vdm-sdct-full.log file. Time zone information has been added to the log files. In addition, you can now configure the log-related group policy settings included in the vdm_common.adm ADM template file, including log directory location, the maximum number of debug log files to retain, and the number of days to retain log files on the system.

Internationalization

The user interface and documentation for Horizon View Client are available in English, Japanese, French, German, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.

  • For more system requirements and installation instructions, see Using VMware Horizon View Client for Windows.

Resolved Issues

Resolved in Horizon View Client 2.3

  • Previously, if you had multiple monitors and used a Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 View desktop, the auto-fit feature sometimes did not work correctly when you changed from 'Full screen - All monitors' to 'Full screen - This monitor.' This issue has been resolved.

Resolved in Horizon View Client 2.2

  • Previously, you could not launch a PCoIP session if the PCoIP client image cache size was larger than available memory on the client system. This issue was more likely to occur with thin clients or if you connected to more than one View desktop at a time. This issue has been resolved.

Known Issues

  • If you previously configured your company's client systems to use a specific cipher via GPO, by configuring SSL Cipher Suite Order group policy settings, be warned that Horizon View Client 2.2 and 2.3 for Windows do not honor these GPO settings. If your organization has this security requirement, you can upgrade to Horizon View Client 2.3 for Windows and use the new group policy setting described in What's New in This Release.
  • If you enable the group policy setting called 'Disable sending CAD when users press Ctrl+Alt+Del' in the remote desktop, then on the Windows client, selecting 'Send Ctrl-Alt-Delete' from the menu bar has no effect. Also, using the Ctrl+Alt+Insert key combination has no effect. If your company uses this group policy ('Disable sending CAD when users press Ctrl+Alt+Del'), do not upgrade to this version of Horizon View Client for Windows. Wait for the next release.
  • If you use the virtual printing feature and change any printer settings or printing preferences, such as, for example, DPI or double-sided printing, the printer settings do not persist after you disconnect from or log off of a View desktop.
  • If you use a Windows 8.1 View Client and attempt to configure a Philips SpeechMike USB device to be split and redirected to the View desktop, the USB redirection will fail.
Workarounds: Use a different operating system on the client computer or else do not configure the device to be split. This issue occurs with both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 8.1 clients.
  • If your client operating system is Windows 8.1 and you launch a Microsoft RDP session, pressing Ctrl+Alt+Insert does not send Ctrl+Alt+Del to the remote virtual desktop.
Workaround: Click the Send Ctrl-Alt-Delete button in the Horizon View Client menu bar at the top of the screen.
  • If you close an IE 8 browser in the desktop while Flash URL Redirection is in effect, the redirected video remains open on the client system.
Workaround: Manually close the redirected video window.
  • With regards to the real-time audio-video feature, if you install Skype 6.0.x.x on a Horizon View desktop, the Skype application might not detect a webcam that you have plugged into your client system.
Workaround: Update to a newer version of Skype.
  • If you use a touch-enabled screen on your client system to work in a View desktop, do not use the Enable Relative Mouse feature. This feature provides improved mouse performance for 3D and CAD applications, but for touch-enabled screens and tablets, the mouse coordinates are not translated properly, even in 3D and CAD applications.
  • If you have multiple monitors with different screen resolutions and expand Horizon View Client to all monitors and then select the Enable Relative Mouse feature, occasionally, the mouse pointer might not be able to move downward beyond a certain position.
    Workaround: Press Ctrl+Alt.
  • If you use smart cards with ActivClient middleware, to log in to a Windows 8 View desktop, you must have ActivClient 7.0.0.42 or later installed on both the client system and the View desktop.
  • For information about known issues with the Windows 7 multimedia redirection (MMR) feature, see the VMware Horizon View 5.3 Feature Pack 1 Release Notes.
